PFAS + Other Contaminants Treated
Destroy PFAS and other persistent contaminants
From PFAS and pharmaceutical compounds to solvents, alcohols and 1,4-dioxane, Axine's electraCLEAR® technology destroys difficult contaminants in industrial wastewater. Its on-site electrochemical oxidation process breaks down targeted compounds rather than simply transferring them into another waste stream.

Contaminant Capabilities
What electraCLEAR destroys
Treatment requirements vary by contaminant and wastewater composition. Explore the contaminant groups and representative compounds within electraCLEAR’s demonstrated treatment capabilities.
PFAS
Persistent fluorinated compounds, including PFOA, PFOS, PFHxA, PFBS and other long-, short- and ultra-short-chain PFAS.
Organic compounds
A broad range of organic constituents, including organic acids, aldehydes, ketones, polymers, surfactants and pesticide active ingredients.
Alcohols and solvents
Industrial chemicals used in manufacturing, cleaning and processing, including acetone, acetonitrile, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol (IPA), methanol and NMP.
Aromatic compounds
Carbon-based compounds found in chemical manufacturing and industrial waste streams, including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX), aniline and phenol.
Ammonia and ammonium compounds
Nitrogen-containing compounds associated with industrial processes, including ammonia, ammonium hydroxide, ammonium chloride, TMAH and TMAC.
Pharmaceutical compounds
Active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and other pharmaceutical residues (such as TFA in GLP-1 production) found in manufacturing wastewater, including product-containing process streams and equipment-cleaning rinses
1,4-Dioxane and other compounds
Difficult industrial contaminants including 1,4-dioxane, glycols, amines, amino acids and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
Other industrial contaminants
Other listed industrial chemicals include methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), methylene chloride, methyl carbonates, urea and ammonium sulfate.
The destruction challenge
Why difficult contaminants require destructive treatment
Conventional wastewater treatment processes aren’t always effective against persistent or hard-to-degrade contaminants. Biological treatment may struggle with toxic or resistant compounds, while separation technologies can leave concentrated waste streams still requiring further management.
Chemical oxidation can break down many organic contaminants, but some compounds resist conventional oxidants or require treatment conditions that are difficult to maintain. Axine’s electraCLEAR technology uses electrochemical oxidation to drive destructive reactions directly in wastewater, targeting difficult contaminants rather than simply separating them from water.

Built for on-site treatment
electraCLEAR for contaminant destruction
electraCLEAR combines destructive treatment with practical operating characteristics that support deployment at industrial facilities. Its modular design allows the technology to integrate with existing wastewater treatment processes and adapt to application-specific requirements.
Ambient-temperature and pressure operation
Operates without the elevated temperatures and pressures required by thermal destruction processes, simplifying on-site deployment.
Modular system design
Configurable treatment modules support different wastewater streams, treatment requirements and facility constraints, putting you in a position to grow and change with your waste streams.
Integration with existing treatment
Works alongside processes such as reverse osmosis, ion exchange and foam fractionation to treat concentrated contaminant streams.
On-site contaminant destruction
Treats targeted contaminants at the facility, reducing the need to transport contaminated wastewater to off-site treatment or disposal.
Eliminate reliance on off-site disposal
For suitable waste streams, on-site treatment can reduce disposal costs, trucking requirements and associated operational disruptions.
Application-specific validation
Laboratory and pilot testing help establish treatment performance and operating requirements before full-scale deployment.
