Axine’s electro-oxidation (EOx) treatment solution will help the pharma company eliminate APIs in their manufacturing wastewater to achieve PNEC standards
Vancouver, British Columbia, April 28, 2021 – Axine Water Technologies announced that it has shipped another customized, turnkey wastewater treatment system to a leading pharmaceutical company for installation at one of their manufacturing plants on the US East Coast. Under a multi-year Master Service Agreement (MSA), Axine will provide guaranteed treatment of an antimicrobial active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) in clean-in-place (CIP) rinse water to ensure that the treated wastewater meets the goal of achieving a very stringent Predicted No-Effect Concentration (PNEC) discharge standard for the API in the receiving water.
“Pharmaceuticals in the Environment (PiE) are a global risk to human health and the environment,” said Jonathan Rhone, CEO of Axine Water. “This project is a good example of big pharma’s commitment to reduce the impact of PiE from manufacturing facilities, protect water resources, and enhance sustainability performance. Achieving these goals will require a new standard of wastewater treatment like Axine’s EOx technology with its unique capability to treat virtually any API or organic pollutant to non-detection levels.”
The new wastewater system was manufactured at Axine’s assembly plant in Metro Vancouver. It is containerized and designed for rapid installation and integration into the customer’s site operation. Under the MSA, the system will be operated, serviced, and maintained by Axine. It is fully automated, monitored, and controlled 24×7 from Axine’s Vancouver-based Network Operations Centre (NOC). It will be fully operational this summer.
