electraCLEAR® technology

Destroy persistent contaminants with electraCLEAR

Backed by 250,000+ hours of commercial runtime, Axine’s electrochemical oxidation technology destroys PFAS, active pharmaceutical ingredients, solvents and other persistent organics in wastewater, reducing reliance on off-site disposal.

How electraCLEAR works

Electrical energy drives contaminant destruction

Inside the electraCLEAR reactor, electricity drives oxidation reactions that progressively break down persistent organic contaminants into simpler, stable end products.

Apply electrical current

Wastewater circulates past catalyst-coated electrodes. An applied electrical current drives reactions at the electrode surfaces and generates powerful oxidants in the water.

Break down contaminants

Oxidation occurs both at the electrode surfaces and in the water, breaking the persistent contaminants into smaller, safer, and more manageable compounds.

Mineralize into stable end products

Continued oxidation mineralizes target contaminants into stable end products such as gases, water and dissolved ions, rather than concentrating them into another waste stream.

more than a standard reactor design

The difference is
in the materials

Not all wastewater responds to oxidation in the same way. Axine draws on advanced materials expertise to engineer reactors around each stream’s chemistry and treatment objectives, balancing contaminant destruction, energy efficiency and treatment cost.

  • More than a decade of advanced materials research
  • Multiple electrode materials and configurations for different wastewater chemistries
  • Proprietary electrode coatings engineered for durability
  • Combined or staged electrode materials tailored to treatment objectives

Where electraCLEAR breaks the cycle

Make destruction
the point

Start with the right stream

Some wastewater streams can be treated directly. For larger or more complex flows, concentrate your flow into a smaller volume can make destruction more economical.

Concentrate for destruction

Foam fractionation, reverse osmosis and regenerable ion exchange can concentrate contaminants into smaller streams. Each captures different compounds and produces a different concentrate, so the right choice depends on the wastewater and the requirements for effective destruction.

Destroy, don’t relocate

Concentration leaves a contaminant-rich stream that still needs treatment or disposal. electraCLEAR destroys target contaminants on site, reducing reliance on hauling and costly off-site disposal.

How electraCLEAR works

Engineered around your wastewater

Axine configures each electraCLEAR system around your wastewater chemistry, treatment objectives and site requirements, from process controls and equipment layout to ongoing operation.

Treatment design

Reactor count and configuration are tailored to your wastewater chemistry, flow and treatment targets

Process controls monitor and manage pH, conductivity and temperature, while foam and gas management systems support safe, reliable operation.

System configuration

Modular skids and 20- or 40-foot containerized systems can be configured to fit your site’s space and treatment requirements.

Expandable reactor capacity allows systems to accommodate changing treatment needs over time.

Seamless operation

Automated operation and clean-in-place systems minimize routine operator intervention. Routine on-site tasks may include filter changes and chemical replenishment.

Axine’s Network Operations Center monitors system performance remotely, with maintenance and field support tailored to your operating model.

Tested before deployment

Validated for your water before full-scale deployment

Axine tests your wastewater to establish treatment performance, determine operating conditions and evaluate economics before designing a full-scale solution.
