The core of Axine’sTM technology is our proprietary electrolytic cell illustrated in the diagram showing a side view consisting of a membrane between an anode and cathode. Wastewater flows across the surface of the anode. It does not flow between the anode and the cathode.
Electricity is applied to the anode to generate agressive hydroxyl (OH) radicals, which oxidize and mineralize even the most challenging dissolved organics to CO2, N2, and H2O. No chemicals are required, no sludge is produced, and a high purity stream of H2 is recovered.
The process is continuous. The wastewater flow rate and electricity is adjusted to accommodate different concentrations of COD (Chemical Oxidation Demand) influent and treatment objectives.
These cells are packaged into modules, which are the basic building blocks of our modular commercial systems.
